OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Food Pantry:  Holy Spirit collects canned and dry goods to help stock a nearby food pantry throughout the year.  Several of our members volunteer at the food pantry and one of our Vestry members is a Director of the food pantry.

Food Pantry Community Garden:  Volunteers from Holy Spirit and the community have established a community garden in the area to the rear of the food pantry building on South Green Street.   Planting, maintaining and harvesting the garden will provide fresh produce to those in need through the food pantry this summer.

Interfaith Health and Support Services:  Holy Spirit has supported this interdenominational, non-profit group both financially and in manpower.  Volunteers provide transportation and assistance to the homebound, the elderly and those needing respite care.

Family Promise:  We are a support parish in the Family Promise Program which provides homeless housing in local churches.  Congregants provide food, companionship and overnight vigils at churches.

Monthly Community Dinner:  Begun in 2008, this popular outreach project serves to feed the body and soul, with a hearty meal and good fellowship.  Our numbers have tripled and we are ministering to groups up to 100.

Vicar's Discretionary Fund:  At the Vicar's discretion, these monies are used for those in need.

Stop Hunger Now:  Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-saving aid to the world's most vulnerable.  For the past several years, Church of the Holy Spirit has supported Stop Hunger Now by purchasing and packing meals to be shipped to areas selected by Stop Hunger Now.  See photos on our Photo Page.

Civic Groups:  Holy Spirit hosts five packs of Cub Scouts and four troops of Girl Scouts.  We extend the use of our building to AA for meetings six days a week, Sunday through Friday.
